Friday evening kicks the weekend off with the hugely popular vintage sounds of The Alkaseltzer Sisters, whilst Saturday sees the return to Grassington 1940s Weekend of Echo 42 Big Band (back by popular demand). To keep the music and dancing going on both evenings both our acts are supported by the ever-present DJ Shack Shakin Jack.

Confirmed Dates for 2017!

After setting up Grassington’s first ever 1940s weekend event back in 2012, we are now proud to welcome you to our ever growing sixth annual weekend long event. This year as is tradition we kick the weekend off with live music and dancing up at the Devonshire Institute (the Town Hall’s posh name).

Acts to be confirmed.

On Saturday and Sunday, ride in on a vintage bus and be taken back in time as you land in the heart of the re-enactor camps. Here you find the encampments, vintage market stalls, skirmishes, military displays and military vehicles.

Heading up into the village, take a walk around the famous cobbled streets and you will hear the sounds of the 40's throughout the day as you browse around Grassington’s shops, cafes and public houses. Carry on up towards the Devonshire Institute and you can find Murray and Jill for a dance in the street, or maybe even chance upon Carolyn on the trapeze.

From 2-4pm come and take part in the afternoon tea dances led by Maggie and Geoff Forrest in the Town Hall.

We would like to invite applications from individuals and re-enactor groups who can help us to make Grassington's 1940's Weekend an interesting, informative and most of all enjoyable weekend for all those who want to take part and those who just want to visit and watch the entertainment.

We plan to have camps of re-enactors in the National Park Car Park, we are completely open to suggestions and welcome your input to help us to create a weekend to suit everyone. This is your opportunity to add to a 1940's weekend format, please take it.

We are happy to welcome re-enactors in uniforms of any nationality but will not allow uniforms of the SS or the displaying of Swastikas.

If you would like to take part in our weekend then please send your request to

Vintage Military Vehicles and Classic Cars

Grassington lends itself to the 1940's era and what better stage could there be to join what we hope will be an amazing gathering of some of the best examples of vintage military and civilian vehicles in the north of England.

All vehicles attending the event must have valid insurance and will be allocated a parking space in or around the village, space will be limited and spaces allocated early.
